Fort Lauderdale Map
Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful city located on the coast just 25 miles north of Miami. Known as the “Yachting Capital of the World”, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Florida, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale area is home to thousands of restaurants, over 60 golf courses, and 100 marinas that house around 45,000 resident yachts. In fact, the waterways and canals are some of the best ways to explore the area, and there are plenty of cruises and tours that will allow you to meander the waterways and see the city from a unique and picturesque perspective.
With on average 300+ sunny days per year, Fort Lauderdale is a wonderful place to call home. There are plenty of attractions and things to do, including boating, shopping, dining, museums, nightlife, and of course you can spend the day at the beach where you can relax on the golden sands or try your hand at scuba diving, snorkeling, stand-up paddleboarding, or jet-skiing! The Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a 180-acre beachfront park where you can enjoy nature trails, camping, picnicking, and canoeing. The Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment district is home to plenty of cultural attractions to fill your time, including the Museum of Discovery and Science, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and the Florida Grand Opera.
The Fort Lauderdale beaches see the Sea Turtle Nesting Season from March through to October, and residents and visitors to the area are encouraged to help the sea turtles wherever possible by keeping beaches clean and reducing the use of artificial lighting near the beaches.
The area is home to more than 25 distinct neighborhoods and communities, all with unique characteristics and attractions. Whether you want to live in a charming beachfront village, a vibrant city condo, or a sprawling countryside retreat – you’ll find it here in Fort Lauderdale.
